Home is in the Journey

Where does the journey begin and end? Or indeed does it at all or not join in an ever decreasing circle, like a ripple from a rain drop falling on still water.
The water comes from the Ocean, evaporates into the sky from which it falls back to the Ocean. As it lands it creates a tiny wave, which in time becomes still, in peace, in a place called home.

A Reminder

"We know from experience that the pictures we treasure, the ones that sustain us, are independent of fashion. Sometimes it helps to be reminded, for courage." Robert Adams, Beauty in Photography.

Uprooted

A shell, a glorious memory to a beautiful place, a beautiful time. Kept safe on the shelf, dusted, cared for, re-lived. The shell itself, uprooted from its home, taken, it didn't ever give its permission to go, to be put in a pocket and flown across the ocean to a new place. Then in turn the person who relocated this delicate thing has to do the same herself, uproot, pack her things, her life into 20 allocated boxes. How does one decide what can go and what can not? Which stone, which shell, which pot? It's funny how ones life can be squashed down to size, to a certain amount of kilo's, nothing more, nothing less than 350 kilo's. But it's not what's is in the boxes themselves, but the joy of finding that hidden treasure you have forgotten about, until you hold it in your hands and the memory comes flooding back. At the end of the day things are just things, a physical presence, but it is not the physical that matters. At this time I am preparing to be uprooted once again, in 9 weeks time myself and my husband will be moving to Kathmandu, Nepal. An exciting prospect, yes, a scary prospect, yes, everything I love right now is here. But where is here? Where is home? I have come to discover that there are things and people to love wherever one is, home is in the journey, the joy is in our hearts, find peace there, find a place to rest there and the rest really doesn't matter! These shells were 'released' back to nature in a beautiful place, where they in turn can find happiness. Om shanti shanti shanti.

Dreaming Goddess

The beautiful Goddess flew and she flew

Flew and flew watching over you.

She came to a gentle place where people went to pray under a Jasmine tree.

She took off her wings and gave them to a tree that bore no leaves or flowers as a magic gift

And gently slipped into a beautiful dream

A Road for Rhino's

Sometimes the paths we choose to journey seem filled with obstacles and difficulties, but then having reached the destination we feel stronger, we have achieved and learned many lessons along the way. I always think of that age old saying: ' a thousand mile journey, starts with a single step.' We have to have courage and determination, overcome our fears and leap both feet forward into the unkown. At the end of this journey where the above image was made, we were blessed with the sight of a glorious elephant, very close, very wonderful, yes oh lord Ganesha we overcame the bumpy, challenging road, one where rhino's wander, to get to you. You, the protector, the overcomer of all obstacles, you oh wonderful elephant God, raise your trunk high into the sky in triumph.

Home.

Home is a series of 5 images, a Tibetan man living in exile, has a dream in prayer of his return home to Tibet. When he finds himself there, the dream turns into a nightmare, facing violence he meets his death. But through his death he finds his inner spirit, and learns that the only true home we have is within the journey.

Thoughts and prayers are always with the Tibetan people inside and outside of Tibet. May you all find peace, Om shanti Om.

Mother Earth needs us now.

Sending prayers and thoughts to Japan at this time of crisis, to all the people and animals, trees and plants suffering right now, shanti to you all.
Mother Earths message really can't be any clearer, she needs us now, she needs us all to take responsibility for her health, she needs healing.
Let us all make a real effort now, for the sake of our world, humanity, animals, fish, plants and all living beings.
Turn off unnecessary power, don't use plastic bags, cut down on our water usage, walk instead of driving, if we all really make a effort and do it in love for the Earth, we will make a difference. We are all responsible, we all have to make a difference now.

Om shanti shanti shanti
